I'm still wondering why Barry's super-speed punch had no effect on Grodd. Telekinetic shield, maybe?

Uhh, did you not see Grodd "catch" that superpseed punch with his own hand? That's why it had no effect.

Still, since the closing scene proves Grodd survived his "encounter" with the train... (And how convenient...Cisco never even saw the second train coming, yet it was there a moment after the first train had passed...and Grodd never noticed it coming either?)

This I thought was odd as well. Pretty dumb to jump in front of a moving train and somehow "not" know it's coming...

Then again, maybe Grodd was so focused on Telepathically messing with Barry, he failed to notice the train? Possible.

If Grodd survived, why did the General suddenly find himself free of Grodd's mind control? If Grodd was shielded by a TK field and was only stunned, why didn't his control of the General return once Grodd came to?

Interesting questions.

I suspect Grodd originally was written to have been killed, and at the last minute the show-runners decided Grodd was too good a character to lose so early, so they changed it so he lived...which ended up making no sense considering what else happened.

I hate it when they do stuff like this...

Maybe they'll introduce Gorilla City next. \:P

As much as I would love to see Gorilla City, I don't think the show has the budget to attempt it. Also Cisco's questions/comments about Grodd being like modern day Planet of the Apes puts an end to having Gorilla City.

Unless they have Grodd go and CREATE Gorilla City......

Grodd did catch Barry's super speed punch, however let's consider that while Grodd has the strength of an ape, possibly enhanced, we are still talking physics as in force of impact = mass times acceleration. Grodd appeared to be uninjured when one would think his hand should have been shattered. Between that and the train not killing him definitely indicates a telekenetic shield, there is no other way Grodd could have survived that.

I don't think there was a last minute story change to keep Grodd alive. Grodd has a bond with Reverse Flash and sees him as his father. Revers Flash quite likely asked/ordered Grodd to keep Team Flash busy while he finished his work to get home. Thus once Grodd was beaten by the train, he likely got word from RF to stop the attack and release Eiling.

Now Eiling is focused on hunting Grodd so he will be busy and he recognizes that Barry is a hero and has made it clear that if he wanted to hunt down Barry he already would have, and as fast as the Flash is, I don't think he'd last long against the might of the armed forces, especially since Eiling has shown he has devices that can stop Barry.
