Some people think he might be the new ZOOM villain in Season 2.
      Currently, I disagree with that.
There are no clues yet as to who Zoom is other then that he is from Earth 2 and wants Flash dead.
Eddie Thawne shot himself in the HEART at point blank range with what was at least a .38 caliber bullet. He died in front of everyone and the time storm began after RF was erased. RF being erased meant Eddie was dead.
Then Eddie's body was pulled into the singularity as the rest of Team Flash had to get away from ground zero as fast as they can and carrying a dead body kind of slows a normal person down.
his body and other items were pulled in to the time storm as it was ground zero and was absorbing items to build its accretion disk, etc.
The only way I can see Eddie still being alive is if Rip Hunter secretly intervened and is healing him which will restore RF as well OR if Rip Hunter appears and PREVENTS Eddie from blasting his own heart out, which of course saves RF as well.
So barring evidence that states otherwise, Eddie Thawne is dead.
Currently a 0.1% chance at best that he is Zoom. As evidence mounts this percentage may change.

I can only speak for myself but my idea was that, in the 'post-suicide reality', both Eddie Thawne & Eobard Thawne were erased from the timeline and were replaced by Malcolm Thawne, an evil version of Eddie (same face, different moral compass).

There's nothing to say Barry or Eddie couldn't have a fraternal twin that could be played by another actor.

I was kind of expecting to find out Eddie and Barry were half-siblings.

But Reverend Meteor told me (see one of the posts below) that the actor has been hired on a different show ... So, except in flashbacks, it is unlikely that we will see the actor playing Eddie Thawne again on the show.

The actor who plays Ronnie also has a job on another show. So I wouldn't expect to see him around much either.

Also, normally, after the singularity, the spacetime continuum should have healed itself and Barry's mother shouldn't have been killed by Eobard Thawne (since he doesn't exist anymore !).
    Obviously, it didn't happen.
So, my theory that Zoom is Malcolm Thawne, the 'evil twin' of Eddie Thawne, doesn't work.

Instead, now I think that Zoom is 'evil Barry Allen' coming from Earth-3 ...

Why not evil Barry from Earth 2?

I get in the comics Earth 2 is where the golden age heroes are but are we assuming on the show that the characters from Earth 1 do not have Earth 2 analogues?

I mean I was kind of hoping for it to be like Fringe or Star Trek's mirror universe...almost everybody has a copy on the other side.

Pollux, the "Blue Flash", was a clone of Barry Allen and Cobalt Blue was the lost twin of Barry Allen ...

They could still go the evil identical twin route with Barry. I've watched enough soap operas that I don't hate that idea on principle like everyone else.

Like maybe a time traveler abducted Barry's twin and raised it in the future.

Between time travelers from the future and multiple timelines visitors I can see this season being as confusing as an X-Men comic.

On the show, Zoom would replace Johnny Quick as the evil speedster of Earth-3 and would have attacked Jay Garrick on Earth-2 ...

Also, since Earth-3 is the mirror image of Earth-1, and we are expecting the Mirror Master to appear ...

Honestly for season 2 I just hope they limit it to two worlds. No Earth 3 yet. Fringe got really awful when they introduced even more timelines.

I'm kind of hoping for Mirror Master to be a villain from Earth 1 who teams up with his Earth 2 self.

Maybe they could just merge the ideas of Earth 2 and Earth 3 together somehow. I really just want two sets of doppelgangers not 3.
