Umm, yes?
It was easy to keep a "run" going when comics were affordable, but nowadays I'm much more willing to bail on a series if I'm not enjoying it.

I've been reading JSA stories, for example, for about 30 years.

Me too. And Johns has been THE driving factor that we even have a healthy JSA franchise this century.
