With Brevoort going on record stating that 2007 will be a big year for Mephisto, does anyone think that Marvel is laying the groundwork for an evil mastermind in case their realistic, "there is no right or wrong here" approach doesn't work? Or perhaps it was planned from the start?

I agree that something has struck me as just plain wrong about Miriam from the very beginning. And there always seems to be something conveniently poignant about each appearence she has made in the series. From hating Tony Stark/IronMan to admitting her dead childs idolization of him. If Mephisto was somehow manipulating events from the beginning it would make certain actions of certain characters much more understandable. And far more easily acceptable on my part.

I agree she's seemed off when ever she appears, but I really hope thats just bad writing and shes not Mephisto, or even working for him. Her being the marvel u version of Satan would remove even the thin veneer this series had going of showing both sides as possibly right, and thats something i'd hate to see.

Plus getting Mephis from Miriam Sharpe is a bit of a stretch. you could get that from a lot of things, and theres a lot of letters left over.
