Average is a vague term. The nature of the industry sees a lot of new series being created and old series being ended. Then you have to factor in one shots, miniseries, special issues, etc.

To get a a better answer, you need to define the period of time you are looking at. Maybe you want to look at a 5 year period, or a 6 month period.

My suggestion, is to go to this website http://www.cbgxtra.com/Default.aspx?tabid=695 and look at each individual month's number of titles, and then do whatever kind of average you want to.

Usually the number of titles shipped by Marvel is listed at the intro of each month's recap. For instance, in November 07 Marvel had 83 titles. October 07 had 80. Some months don't have the total number of issues, but if you really needed it, I guess you would just have to count them up.
