What an issue! Brian Reed once again proved to me why he's my favorite writer right now. Both this title and MS. MARVEL are positively fabulous, and the excellence just keeps on going!

Well, the Skrull activity hit an all-time high with this issue. Not only was the Church of Hala made up of Skrulls, but so were Cobalt Man and Cyclone! The Kree soldiers seen at the beginning of this issue were also Skrulls as well. And it looks like Captain Marvel may very well be a Skrull, too. My theory: I think the Skrull being conditioned to pose as Captain Marvel somehow woke up and escaped before the imprinting process could be finished (much like the situation involving Masque and Madame Masque), so the Cap/Skrull ended up having memory problems, with him thinking he was the real Mar-Vell. There could still be more to this than meets the eye, however, since there are two issues left. The time travel/Negative Zone warp thing is still a factor and I haven't figured out how it plans in yet.

This leads me to another question/theory: why did the Skrulls choose Cyclone and Cobalt Man to pose as, since these villains were thought to be dead? It makes me wonder if Cutthroat and Centurius are also Skrulls, since those villains were supposed to be dead as well. And perhaps Jigsaw is a Skrull as well, explaining how he broke Spidey's arm way back when during the Breakout.

And then there's Graviton, who was experimented upon and lobotomized at the Raft (as revealed in IRON MAN #8). The Skrulls likely did that, too. And Magneto was spirited away and presumably killed at the end of NEW AVENGERS #20, likely by the Skrulls (although I think he has or is about to pop up again).

In one issue, Brian Reed has hooked me on the SECRET INVASION plot, which makes me wish he was writing the SI mini instead of Bendis. I am eagerly looking forward to reading the final two issues of CAPTAIN MARVEL as well as MS. MARVEL #25-30, Reed's SI tie-in issues!

I've heard some good things about the Captain Marvel mini so I may pick up the first 3 issues this week since it's a light week for me. But then again, maybe not. I have no plans of getting sucked into Invasion so perhaps avoiding so critical a lead-in is best. Sounds intriguing though.

Magneto is back though. He popped up at the end of an Uncanny X-Men arc involving diaries written by some QWERTY character. He's also going to be in Carey's X-Men. It looks like Exodus is still loyal to him despite teaming up with the Marauders for a while.

I may be wrong about this but isn't the whole "plucked out of time" theory just a Reed/Stark theory? They could be wrong. I hope he does turn out to be a Skrull. There are just some characters that should stay dead.
