I'm down to only two Ultimate titles: Ultimate Human and Ultimate Spider-man. I wasn't expecting to like UH so much. The characters are true to their previous portrayals in the Ultimates, the story is intriguing, and I actually felt bad for Bruce Banner. I've said bad things about Ellis before, but when he's on, he's on. I really wish he had taken over Ultimates 3 - a Leader arc in Ultimates would have the makings of a classic.

Ellis is fantastic, and easily one of the best writers working in the medium today, a time noted for talented creators. In a sense, he did take over Ultimates 3. "Ultimate Human" is, in effect, Ultimates 3. Marvel intentionally flushed the main title--previously, one of their absolute best--down the toilet. UH is continuing the work began there, while Loeb and Joe Mad run the main book into the ground (it's impossible to imagine it surviving under their control through the scheduled Ultimates 3 & 4--it's difficult to imagine even finishing the current volume before it faces cancellation). UH and Ellis' Thunderbolts are two of Marvel's best current books (with Thunderbolts, the Ultimates process was reversed, and a completely disposable nostalgia book was transformed into a miracle).
