Reply Subj: Marvel Comics Taught Me Everything I Know

Jules Pfeifer wrote that comic books are essentially trash but we are all children of the Earth aren't we. Even a comic book can have an uplifting and invigorating moral message! In fact they are best, and thus become elevated themselves, ensconced within the illumination of the meaning of the word. Comics can also teach and make a positive difference.

> When I was a child, my moral compass was greatly affected by Marvel Comics. "With great power there must also come great responsibility". Stan Lee has said in interviews many times that he wrote this as a throw away line and never dreamed it would become so important. Since then, we've seen Peter Parker, as well as several other Marvel characters, put in situations where they must choose between what is easy and what is right. They always choose the way that is right, despite knowing that it will put them and the ones they love in harms' way plus leave them poor and possibly hated by the public. Even through all of this we see our heroes rewarded with the piece of mind of knowing that they've chosen the right path instead of turning their back on their ideals.

> Some people consider comics kid's entertainment and never consider the immense moral lessons contained within. Marvel comics taught me everything I know about what is right and honorable and I wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks, Stan. You'll always be numero uno!
