I'd say Hawkeye...

...unless you cound Iron Fist, since he IS in the New Avengers. I only kinda half-count him though, to be honest (depite my love for him), along with Spidey and Wolverine and the lot.

Though I do think Hawkeye is my favorite character AS an Avenger. I.F. I think is better solo, or with his Hero for Hire buddies and other people like that. I don't think he is, up to this point, nearly as important and definitive an Avenger as Clint.
