So I'm reading Secret Invasion and for the most part actually liking it. I think though I like it because I'm actually the type to go online and read interviews, articles and other things on it so I know what's going on.

I find it strange though it take 3 (maybe more I lose count) Avenger titles to fill in the gaps for this story as it develops and internet interviews.

I miss the days when you could pick up the series itself and follow it without having to do "homework".

Secret Wars for instance. 12 issue series you can read and understand it completely. They don't need to use a bunch of regular series to fill in a ton of back information. Infinity Gauntlet - Another straight forward adventure that's easy to follow.

As I'm reading Secret Invasion I sometimes feel like I need to buy a dummies guide to SI or click on Wikipedia so I can really appreciate the story.

Marvel isn't alone in this either. Final Crisis I feel is kind of giving me bits of a story as I go and Batman RIP is even more confusing. Some might say its Morrison's style but I never had a problem following his JLA stuff he did.

When I saw your thread title I just wondered what a post on Final Crisis was doing on this board. I've always been more of a Marvel Zombie than whatever they call the DC counterpart (even though I've traditionally bought an equal amount of each company's books until the last few months) but I don't even really need the Avengers titles to understand and appreciate Secret Invasion. I like that a crossover's writer had an outlet like this to showcase pertinent details but SI is just fine without them IMO. FC? Ugh. No thanks. If I disliked and found hard to follow 7 Soldiers, why would I think FC would be any better?
