Subj: Out of all the news that came out of the SDCC, the only thing that piqued my interest... Posted: Wed Jul 30, 2008 at 01:03:36 pm EDT (Viewed 51 times) | Reply Subj: San Diego stuff: What do you look forward too. Posted: Mon Jul 28, 2008 at 12:37:49 pm EDT
...was the announcement that IDW has plans to reprint Larry Hama's work on the Marvel G.I.Joe title. (As I stupidly passed on the collected editions released several years back.) That was one of the first comics I bought regularly ... with my own damn allowance. In elementary school, I'd force my parents to swing by the local 7-11 so I could snag the latest issues. Then the Mom, while cleaning out my closet one day, stepped all over the first two years of the book. Yes, issues 1-27 were scattered about the floor as I had been re-reading them the night before. So while I did keep them, they were never going to make it into my beautiful bagged/boarded NM+ boxed collections. Always vowed to track down better copies of those books, but got into titles such as Daredevil, Captain America, Avengers, and Uncanny X-Men. And kinda left my G.I.Joe toys and comics behind. (Actually, I sampled a few of the Hama/Bright issues of the early 90s. In fact, a cover image of Snake Eyes skydiving comes to mind. But I just never really got back into G.I.Joe.) I might actually try out the Hama reboot title as well.
