Quote: Q) What about that double set of numbers at the end? A) For example, let’s look at â€Scott Summers - Cyclops: 4-24â€. The first number “4†represents the number of times that the character had been chosen as a Top-Ten All-Time Fan Favorite. The second number “24†represents the total added points scored dependent on how those 4 fans chose to rank them from 1 to 10. Quote: Q) So Cyclops was only chosen 4 times? This poll doesn’t mean much.A) Actually being chosen only 4 times means a great deal! This is because I was calculating scores for 359 different chosen fan favorite characters, most of which were only chosen once. If a character like Cyclops only got chosen 4 times and ended up in 20th place, it means something likeable about his specific character, due to all the possibilities of choices in the Marvel Multiverse which remain limitless. Quote: Q) What was the point of ranking our favorite characters?A) It was simply to differentiate all the tie-breakers. Whoever you rank in 1st place gets 10 points. Whoever ranked in 2nd place gets 9 points. Whoever ranked in 3rd gets 8 points, etc. If I just asked you to list your favorite Top-Ten Heroes, Heroines & Villains without ranking your favorites, this would lead to endless ties. Everybody can favor a certain character over another instead of just listing ties. For example, let’s just say that Squirrel Girl got chosen once but got ranked in 1st place, which gives her ten points. Now compare her to Rocket Raccoon who got chosen ten times, but all ranked in 10th place. This gives him the sum total score of 10 points, which is one point from each person. They become tied in points. However, since more people voted for Rocket Raccoon instead of Squirrel Girl, he beats her in the end. Quote: Q) What makes this poll so special?A) I would say the diversity of readers and the ranking system overall. I don’t know anybody else who asks to rank their Top-Ten Heroes, Heroines & Villains and takes the time to calculate all the results. The diversity is special, because if I ran this poll at a comic convention in Los Angeles, the majority of pollsters would be Californian. When I run it from comicboards.com, I get fans from all over the world like the United States, Argentina, Italy, South Africa, England, Thailand, Australia, etc. Quote: Q) How do you know if the results are accurate?A) Well, I would be wasting my time calculating if I did something wrong. I actually calculated all the results 3 times to make sure I was getting the same thing. Believe me, it was time consuming, but it had to be correct. Who am I? I’m just another comics fanatic like yourself! Quote: Alright everybody! Thank you for all your participation!Quote: See if you can answer these questions:Quote: 1) What surprised you the most about the calculated results?Spidey not being number 1. Magneto being stole by Loki. Thanos not even in the top 10. Thor(13-95) trashing W-O-L-V-E-R-I-N-E(9-34) humm... I get these vote all came from these boards all right. It also explains Loki I guess. I mean Wolverine and Mag's beaten on popularity by Thor and Loki isn't exacly what anybody could expect... normally. Quote: 2) Who do you wish made the list but didn’t?Glactus. Sentry?...ok, ok I get it... Quote: 3) Who do you think doesn’t belong on the list?Hawkeye and Enchantress should not IMO. Quote: 4) Who do you think needs to be raised higher or lower?Spidey, Thanos, Wolverine, Hulk should be lower. Cap, BP, Thor, Loki should be higher. Quote: 5) How can you find interpretation as to how this reflects comic stories today and from the past?good question. Quote: 6) What is it about these specific characters that make them stand out from the 299 other Marvel Universe characters that which I calculated that didn’t get to make the cut? popularity!
