Should Marvel experiment with publishing comics in the Kindle format?

1. The Kindle has too many flaws, and many experts think that it won't be around for many years.

2. The Kindle isn't that popular in terms of sales. You are talking about such a small percentage of the population that has one. It's not as popular as an iphone with sales of 1M. Then you also have to think about how many current comic fans have a kindle? I'm guessing the two groups of kindle users and comic readers don't have much overlap.

3. The Kindle isn't in color, and won't be for many years.

4. The Kindle has it's own file formats, that no other system uses. Marvel should focus on creating file formats that can be used across multiple platforms. If an ipod didn't use mp3s, it wouldn't have been successful.

5. Comic viewing would require alot of changes in page structure. Small panels and dialogue would be hard to read. And those changes would be a huge investment on Marvel's part. One comic on kindle is Owly, but it's a comic with huge panels and doesn't use alot of words.

I could go on.

Now, I would encourage Marvel to make leaps into digital comics, but I would look at alternate avenues instead of the Kindle. The biggest platform would just be computers. There is speculation that the iphone will come out in a 10 inch screen, and if so, that would be a great thing to put comics on.
