Wow. I was surprised this didn't happen in the 90's when Marvel was in backruptcy and it's shares were pretty worthless. I am surprised this has happened now. It'll be interesting to see what happens. The only question I would have is what happens to Marvel Super Hero Island at Universal Studios? I'm assuming Universal has rights to the characters for the rides but when does that contract end? You figure Disney will be all over it in their parks once the contract ends.

Back in the 1990s there was indeed some chatter about Disney purchasing Marvel, but they felt that the Comics industry was too risky and not enough profit in it for them.

I was very vocal in the late 80s early 90s that Disney would be Marvel's savior back then, plus Marvel was already in contract with Disney publishing many Disney Afternoon titles, but Disney bailed when they didn't get the enourmous $$ they had hoped for.

Of course I was also very vocal that Disney needed to do a Black Princess 2D animated film. Looks like Disney is finally getting things right. Only AFTER it becomes financially profitable, though.

No doubt the popularity of theatrical films like Iron Man and X-Men were the final catalysts that got Disney drooling with greed.

LOL
