-Really don't think Disney is going to intrude on the comic book publishing side of things. Unless, of course, Spider-Man starts rapiing people or Thor becomes a flaming sterotype. The big problem on the publishing end will be distribution. Marvel uses Diamond....Disney uses Harper....hrrmmmm.....THIS could cause chaos!

-Disney is interested in the liscensing side of things. Captain America toothbrushes, Aunt May's Wheat Cake batter, Cartoon cartoons cartoons! Disney right now pretty much cater to just little girls. Little boys, right now, don't have much Disney interest. Hannah Montana, HSM, Wizards of whatever, etc are all marketed towards tween girls. Marvel on their side they can infiltrate the tween and teen boy market.

-Disney is interested in the movie side of things. Guess they will absorb Marvel Studios. But you have problems with some movie properties. Sony is committed towards 3 more Spider-Man movies. Fox has perpetual rights to X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Daredevil. Which means as long as they keep making movies, the rights are theirs. Disney lawyers will earn their pay here. Look to Disney to buyout those contracts over the next few years.

-Universal Studios: Islands of Adventure has a Marvel themed 'Island'. I live in Orlando and this is a hot topic. From what I understand they have perpetual rights to X-Men, Hulk, Fantastic Four, Captain America. NOT the Thor, Iron Man, Avengers stuff. Say Disney plays ruff (and they will) Universal could easily retheme the Hulk coaster, Dr. Doom's Fearfall, and the Storm 'teacup' ride. BIG problem is the state of the art big deal Spider-MAn ride. That will be a nightmare. Rumor has it though that Michael Bay was in town checking out the Spider-MAn ride (Transformers anyone?). Hasbro has the rights to make Marvel toys and Disney has a Hasbro themed toyshop, but maybe Universal could make a Hasbro toy Island? Transformers replacing Spider-Man, GI Joe themed coaster replacing the Hulk, Stretch Armstrong is the new Fearfall and a Mr. Potatohead teacup ride!!! Simple. A Nintendo themed island could work too!

Actually, Disney DOESN'T currently publish OR distribute it's own comics. It licenses out it's brand name and characters for others to do so, thus publishing and distribution will be unaffected.
