The instances of women shown in a genuinely positive example in Marvel Comics should not be discounted, but they are not a microcosm of the genre's treatment of women.

And comics and video games are " the only medium boys have left "? Even putting aside the absurdity of the idea that a medium should belong to a single gender ( and your lack of use of the plural noun " mediums ", for that matter ), both mediums by and large have become more gender inclusive; games especially have seen a surge in product geared towards groups other than 18-34 year old males ( Nintendogs, the Sims, Harvest Moon, etc. ).  And contrary to your opinion that entertainment geared towards girls by and large discriminates against boys, a lot of these games have plenty of male fans.

Change or die, it seems...

Nobody attacks things like Manga or Twilight, or High School Musical, or Sex in the City for appealing primarily to women and girls. Nobody goes in and tries to change those things to appeal to men. Nobody is pushing to make Twilight more like Blade. But constantly I hear how comics need to change to be more girl friendly. Super heroes appeal primarily to males. I make no apologies for that. I make no apologies for a genre that has given us Watchmen, Kingdom Come, Mark Waid's Empire, Ultimates, The Dark Knight Returns. Some entertainment is gender inclusive some forms arent. Its great when some of the superhero stuff appeals to women. But the core of the fan base will always be male and I for one don't think there is anything wrong with that. I don't want to see Marvel forget who they're selling to and end up churning out more "gender inclusive' crap like Arana. Go too far down the road of trying to expand the appeal and you will lose your original fanbase
