So DC announce that they are to drop the $3.99 price tag to $2.99 and dispense with the back up stories and the page count will be 20 pages instead of the traditional 22 pages.
Marvel respond by stating they will not debut new titles at $3.99 from January. A tepid response at best.
DC throws down the gauntlet and challenges other publishers to top their initiative.
I would have thought that Marvel being backed by Disney could have hit back with $2.99 (i'd prefer $2.50 but pigs don't fly) and 22 pages.
C'mon Marvel, hear the voices of your bread and butter purchasers, and make the comicbook more attractive to potential newbies as well.
Set the standard, don't follow it!
That's a weak announcement.
I'm sure by this time next year they'll find their $3.99 per issue titles struggle to retain/capture new readers.
