Despite Doom's general abuse for the past few years, it's my opinion that he is still Marvel's most well-developed and coolest villain. Nobody else has managed to maintain the level of complexity and characterization Doom has without a turn toward being the hero, like Zemo did.

That is true...Marvel has had a large number of their long standing villains drift toward heroism....Juggernaut, Zemo, Mags...heck even Apocalypse was much more heroic in his last appearance. But at no point have I ever thought that either Doom or Kang were on the side of angels.
