Whatever Millar's ultimate plans for Steve were, it was his handling of Steve during Civil War that was so terrible. Someone over at Scans Daily posted some pages from Mark Gruenwald's run when Captain America was being forced to work for the government again: http://scans-daily.dreamwidth.org/4318720.html Steve was written in a far more mature and reasonable manner here. Could he have done the same thing during Civil War? Not precisely; technically he is still a super human based on the Super Soldier Serum. But imagine if he had quit being Captain America and left the United States as a conscientious objector, pointing out how the United States government has allowed fear to dictate their actions and has essentially enslaved a portion of it's populace. And make no mistake; it was slavery. You serve the government or we lock you up (That's the way it looked to me, when you look at The Avengers Initiative. There were a lot of characters there who were there against their will.). You're a super villain? We're going to inject nanites into your body that can kill you if you don't serve us. Was deportation even an option? What was Steve's plan during Civil War? Can anyone give me his actual endgame strategy? Because he was written as being pretty darn stupid. | |||||||
