Quote:That tells us nothing other than that there may be some kind of plan about the future of the characters.
Quote:New Warriors is a pretty difficult concept to make work nowerdays - like so many franchises that were once popular but now seem doomed (Defenders, Invaders, Excalibur, Deathlok, Dr Strange, ghost Rider etc).
Quote:It doesnt help that you have the likes of Runaways, Avengers Arena, Wolvie and the X-Men, Young Avengers etc occupying the 'teen team' corner of the market.
These days it seems like if you're not an X-Team or an Avengers team or the Fantastic Four Marvel doesn't seem interested. Shame because I'm always a bigger fan of books like New Warriors, Thunderbolts, Alpha Flight, Slingers or Runaways.
To me the New Warriors were always anti-establishment and were their own thing. Now that everything is so establishment we need the Warriors now more than ever but they've been ruined so many times in the past several years maybe it's best to leave them all in limbo before another writer kills the ones that are left and has his way with their bodies.
I'm in agreement with you, but the numbers speak for themselves.
Its not like Marvel havent tried to relaunch New Warriors or many other once-successful franchises. The Warriors have had, what, three further series?
Even titles which gain widespread critical acclaim - I'm thinking of Cap Britain and MI13 which is one of my favourites - still get cancelled, so its not always a matter of quality, but whether there is a demand for the product.
