On the reader mail page in Nova it mentioned Zeb Wells, Paco Medina, Juan Vlasco, and David Curiel launching an infinity tie in, and a new new new new new new (slaps my head to stop the broken record effect) warriors.

On one hand it has me excited. I loved the warriors in the 90's and as long as it is not a new "depowered mutants" team I will check it out.

On the other hand it has me apprehensive, I only know the creative team from Nova which is a series I am undecided on. And the only people who ever impressed me handling the Warriors are Fabian Nicieza and the Gage and Slott team in their Avengers Initiative appearances.

I think the major problem is that Marvel just hasn't figured out what to do with the characters. Similar to the New Mutants, this is a team that's trapped somewhere between being teenage heroes and adult heroes. Are the New Warriors suppose to represent the Avengers? The Young Avengers? Something else?

So that's the major problem. So Marvel will occasionally test the waters with these characters and do things like the reality show version, or the anti-registration/depowered mutants version, but those things didn't work. So if Marvel were to bring the characters back, they have to have a unique take on a team concept. And don't just say that the characters will sell the books, because these aren't popular characters.

At this point, I think it might just be better to split the characters up into different teams. Put Firestar and Justice into the X-Men (Firestar apparently is a new member with the Amazing X-Men just announced), let Kid Nova do his own thing, and just leave Speedball in limbo for a while. No real need right now to bring back Dwayne, and Namorita is kind of left in a weird spot anyway.

I think if you did want to bring back the characters as a team unit, I think as a connection to the Avengers franchise would make alot of sense, possibly as a mission based squad.
