I just don't see how the characters become the Runaways without it. It would be like adapting Game of Thrones and keeping Ned Stark alive because he's popular. A lot of what evolves in the later books is from Ned's death in the first book.

I'll reserve commment for the Ep9 thread.

I'm certainly not asking for a 100% faithful adaption...I never do. But I think certain guide posts along the way just have to be meet. The group actually running away and the parents dying is just one of them (although I'm fine if one or two make it). Alex's betrayal and Gert's death (maybe not quite so long) should also happen eventually.

I do not want Gert to die in the TV show. Her death caused me to drop the comic. Gert was my favorite character in the comic and is my favorite character in the TV show. I don't know if I could maintain any interest in the show if Gert isn't in it. She's the heart and soul of everything for me.

There's also this circumstantial evidence: Victor could simply have been allowed to die. Instead he's in stasis. I think, as a writer, if I was going to kill him any way, I would have killed him right there.

A part of me is a bit annoyed they didn't. Because now it seems like he's going to live long enough to be killed off with the others (or killed off next season long after the other parents are killed)

I wanted him to die because (1) I don't see any interesting future for his character and (2) I wanted his wife to have to come to terms with the fact that she killed him.

Well in the comics Alex you know...sides with his parents and was playing the long con all along. He knew what the parents were up to and set the other kids up to find out so he could stop Molly and Karolina's parents from killing his and Nico's parents.

On the show, Molly's adoptive parents seem a long way from plotting to kill Alex and Nico's parents. Molly's biological parents, if they weren't dead, might have gone down that road. But I think they would have targeted Karolina's parents above all else. Or at least Karolina's mother.

I'm going to be very disappointed if Alex doesn't follow the same path. It was very well done in the comic IMO. He was a traitor to the group but he wasn't a traitor to his parents.

Well, Alex has certainly been the driving force in pretty much everything. So he's the plausible choice for a traitor role.

Gret's death really was the beginning of the end for the comics. So there's not really any point in this show killing her until they're reaching the end.

As for Victor, it really depends on how important he is for Jonah's plan. I'm assuming Jonah's going to stay around as a bad guy. He says that Victor is really the only person in Pride that's important.
