Hi All,

I came looking for some advice as I manage my comic book collection. I've been reading comics for a little over 30 years now. My mom bought me a copy of Incredible Hulk that guest starred the Avengers, the West Coast Avengers, and the Fantastic Four; and I've been a Marvel Zombie ever since. I've got nearly 6,000 Marvel comics. I recently was able to complete the run of Avengers I had been working on for the last 15 years or so, issue #s 1-503 (and all annuals).

Now, I'm kind of torn about what to do next. I figured my next step would be to start gradually replacing the damaged issues in my collection (not just Avengers) to increase not just the number of comics I own, but the condition of the runs I have. I really like that idea. BUT, as I go through my collection, identifying the beat up copies that ought to be replaced, I'm discovering that a LOT of them are the issues I picked up when I was 12 or 13 and were my first introductions to these characters.

Here's where I'm torn. Part of me wants to curate a high quality collection in the best possible condition, but part of me is attached to these old, beat up issues that introduced me to the characters.

What would you all do in my shoes?

I only really have one or two comics that have any sentimental value, like the book I bought from my first summer job. Generally, the more I've collected, the less attached to material things I've gotten. I stopped buying back issues back in the 90s, once I completed my runs of X-Men, FF, and Avengers. I'm not even remotely interested in resale values.

At this point, I'm considering going totally digital. It's only the stories I care about anymore.

City of Heroes is BACK!
