To tell the truth, I didn't care for the childlike Drax when he appeared in the Silver Surfer book but started to like him when he was a member of the Infinity Watch.

I loved this team, especially after it was revealed that Thanos was the secret 6th member.

The book was flawed, but overall fun. I would get frustrated with team members for the exact reason Warlock picked each of them. They used their Infinity Gems only in the most obvious or instinctive ways. There was SO MUCH more each gem is capable of, but Warlock wanted guardians who wouldn't use them enough to attract attention.

Back then, I didn't like the drawings of Angel Medina. I started to appreciate Angel Medina with Blackwulf.

I'm really only a fan of Angel's on this book. I don't like his artwork on Incredible Hulk at all.

Angel Medina also took over for Starlin on the artwork for Dreadstar back in the day.

Warlock's logic in picking the members of the Watch was interesting.

Drax was power personified, and in his mental state he wouldn't really use the gem except maybe on a very unconscious level. Also his swallowing the gem made a twisted sense as it would be safe inside him, albeit also hilarious that he did that.

Picking Thanos for the reality Gem made sense also. Thanos knew the gems nature and fully understood the dangers of the reality gem and had more then enough power to safeguard it.

The only time Thanos was tempted to use the gem was shown in Cosmic Powers Unlimited #1, Death completely rejects him, so in the back story he thinks of a plan and to test the gem's power and his control of it he restores Mar-Vell to life.

They argue at first, then Marv tells Thanos the real reason why he did what he did, he wanted someone to talk him OUT of using the Gem to warp reality to make Death love him. Thanos does respect Marv and would listen to him.

The others in the watch could only use the basic functions of the gems as Warlock had hoped.
