I liked Genis in PAD's run on his title (although I haven't read as much of it as I'd like to), but I feel like it's hard to judge him in the New Thunderbolts run. That whole series just felt like it was trying SO HARD to be as cool as the original. Genis definitely felt out of place among Alas, MACH-4, and Blizzard.

As far as favorite Captain Marvel? Monica, all day long.

Monica was a bit overamped since her creation and I was glad that she got her powers adjusted after leaving the Avengers

I think the running joke with the character now is that she is the "goto" person for those that seek permission to use the Captain Marvel name. Kind of as if she is the trademark owner.

Genis: was essentially Mar-Vell 2.0. His photonic powers were a bit stronger as I recall since his DNA was half Titanian Eternal from his mother. But without the nega bands he couldn't really use his powers.

His main problem was lack of control over the Cosmic Awareness that he inherited. He never received the same training and rituals to achieve inner peace that Marv had.

As to his Thunderbolts run, yeah he was out of place and the way he was carved up and scattered into the darkforce dimension along with Zemo's comment "he will NEVER return" sure felt like that was coming straight from Joe Q's own mouth.

His series was plagued by cancellation/restarts and that stupid U-decide gimmick to see who should be Captain Marvel.

When all they have to do is revive Mar-Vell.....
