200 - This issue blew me away as a kid, so I'm going to put it atop my list for sentimental reasons as much as anything else. A solid story with some really touching moments. It kept me captivated with every page.

300 - Micheline stayed on Spidey wayyyy too long, but his first few years on the book were a fun ride. This issue is a landmark story for Spidey and the character of Venom was introduced flawlessly in this book. (It is right up there with Stern's introduction of Hobgoblin in Amazing Spidey #238, in my opinion)

400 - DeMatteis is a wonderful writer. This issue is a prime example of his skills and ability to elicit emotion in his readers. Not the best of his stories by any means, but a beautiful story of love and loss.

100 - Spidey growing 4 extra arms was more frightening to me than the ultra-creepy Morbius. I originally read this story in an over-sized treasury edition. I have always looked back fondly on the story and as I got older, was able to better appreciate the skill in crafting it.

500 - yuck

I had never actively reflected on placing an order of appreciation for these issues. Though I had initially thought that it would be very easy to list them, I found myself changing a few of them up as I went along. I was surprised at how difficult it was to put the the first 4 books into order of appreciation and importance for me. I feel pretty confident about the order that I eventually chose, but the list would look very different if I put them in order of importance to the character of Spidey or his history.

I usually skip over poll, but really dug this one. Thanks for setting up this fun exercise.

No problem. I thought it was fun when I was doing it in my head, too.
