So I bought the first issue of Reign and really liked it. I missed the second issue and decided to just wait for the trade. I'm glad I did.
What did everyone think of the whole thing? I was glad the gave Sandman a non-villainous role. I'm guessing Pete was at in his late sixties to early seventies, which would but his villains pushing eighty. I guess Scorpion is similar to Pete and Kraven ages slower. Not sure if Sandman or Hydro Man age any. Electro should have been a pretty old though.
At any rate, I liked the story. One question though: Who was the flabby naked guy having "dinner" with the mayor? It never said. I was thinking maybe Sandman since the eyes looked the same but he was obviously in much better shape later and I doubt handcuffs would have stopped him. Did I miss something?

The best part about it was the ending actually pulled it all off. No odd danglers. No gaping plot holes. Just a well told alternate future storyline, with a Venom that I actually thought was interesting. Derivitive? Certainly, but what isn't? If it tried to be a note for note copy of Miller's work, I would have dismissed the story. But aside from the artistic measures he used (homages many would say), the story clearly stood on it's own two legs.
Nice job Karre!
