Seeing as Mr. Slott has risen through the ranks very quickly at Marvel, and they obviously think very highly of his work (giving him "Avengers: The Initiative" and having him at the recent annual creative summit), coupled with the fact that he is the writer of the FCBD "SM: Swing Shift," I think it's fair to speculuate that he will be the next writer of ASM. Reportedly, the announcement will be made in June at Wizard World in my hometown of Philly.

I've been anxious to see Slott on a spider-title as well. I do hope that the rumor of his leaving She-Hulk is not true though. I just can't envision that title without him as writer.

I wouldn't characterize his rise as quick or sudden however, he's paid his dues.

Why? For name recognition? To the best of my knowledge he hasn't blown away too many readers since taking over Wolverine, and let's face it, not too many new readers are going to say "Cool! A writer from Lost and Heroes has taken over Spider-man".

I like Sacasa on Senasational, although I know you are not his biggest fan. If Slott doesn't get Amazing the I'd rather have Peter David take over the flaghsip title.

But you can't also compare Wolverine to Spider-Man. You could compare his work on Superman or Batman. Wolverine has always been a second rate title IMO because Wolverine is loved by a lot of X-Men readers. It's been years I haven't read it, but I can remember that just during the fist 100 issues, only like 10 were worth it !

And, contrary to you, I do think name recognition and the fact he wrote on Lost, Smallville and Heroes is an important thing to bring in new readers. The industry works like that now.
Wolverine doesn't matter that much by now, X-Men 3 was last year, now it's Spider-Mania 3 !!
New readers will look at the comics after watching the movie, see it's a new writer, and that writer is also the one of the shows they are watching on TV ... that's the way it is.

No one is caring about Wolverine that much, it could be any writers on it, just because it's not Wolverine's time....heh, it's simple as that.

I would prefer to see PAD instead of Sacasa, and have both Slott and Loeb.
Sacasa bored me to death for the last 6 months...
