> Why? He's written a his fair share of dark and heavier stories too. He writes in the tone that best serves the title, it just happens that he's been assigned a lot more "light" titles than "heavy". When he's assigned something dark (like Arkham Asylum or Avengers: The Initiative) he does dark. When he's assigned something humorous (Ren & Stimpy) he does humorous. When he's assigned big colourful action (The Thing) he does big colourful action.

Would you buy Amazing Spider-Man if it were written by Dan Slott?

If the quality of writing and characterisation is as high as it is/was on She-Hulk and Spider-Man/Human Torch then it would depend upon the status quo, the art and the crossover status. I'm not too fond of the way the artist in the FCBD issue (judging from the online preview) drew Spider-Man, like McFarlane's version but chubbier. But I might be able to put up with it for a while.

As for the status quo, it would have to be something close to the following to please me:

*Not married (or divorced or widowed)
*Secret identity intact (except maybe a couple of super-heroes and Venom)
*Freelance photographer (or similar) instead of school teacher
*Student at college/university/graduate school etc.
*Not an Avengers member (or at the very least don't play it up in ASM)

Crossover status - basically I don't want to be reading tie-ins to The Initiative or Civil War or World War Hulk or Infinite War on 52 Annihilated Earths, nor do I want the stories to crossover with other Spider-Man titles (ala The Other or the clone saga era).

We'll see how things pan out, but honestly there are a lot of other comics out there for me, so I wouldn't be too bummed out if Amazing Spider-Man isn't "fixed" to something more traditional.
