Before Spider-man 3 mania begins(or has it already?) I thought I'd put down my thoughts on the latest issue of FNSM. It was highly enjoyable, and it jumps right into the Ms. Arrow subplot that has been brewing over the last few months.
As much as I didn't care for "The Other", I must admit that Peter David has made the "other" entity interesting and intriguing. It appears that this entity needs to periodically mate and acquire a new host periodically. I wonder if this means that the "other" entity could eventually occupy a male host? Anyway, she has her eyes set on Flash and aggresively pursues him to fulfill her "need". This leads to some solid action sequences and some funny moments. I was reminded of the movie "the Kindred" from some years back.
I'm interested in finding out who Ms. Arrow's "masters" are and how they relate to Mysterio's masters from a couple arcs back.
I'm getting used to Nauck's artwork on the title. At first I thought it was a bit cartoony, but it's growing on me. The "other" appears to be quite a formidable foe and it she/it should be a challenge for Peter.
Finally, there are a couple very well done scenes between Peter and Betty. I'm sure many readers have suspected that Betty quite never got over Peter, but it's refreshing to hear the character come out and say it. Ths supporting cast is alive and well in FNSM.
Looking forward to the battle between Pete and Ms. Arrow.
Overall, I like the issue. I hope Ero loses gets a real body and isn't made up of a bunch of spiders though. Never cared much for that. She could be an anti-Peter and still eat people I guess. Right now she is too much like "The Thousand" villain.
And where the heck is MJ? Pete's crashing on a couch while she is at a motel?
