Reply Subj: A formula for a successful movie franchise

> Boy meets Girl, Boy loses Girl, Boy gets Girl back. Sounds like Spider-man 1,2 and 3. Just throw in millions of dollars of special effects and you have a hit. If this sounds familiar to you is because this has been done many times. This is the hollywood Formula. Rammi followed it to a tee. I hope that this is Rammi's last Spider-man movie. And get a director who is will take chances and get away from this formula. Enjoy pubescent Spider-man fans.
So you find it financially sensible to "take chances" with a quarter-to-half a billion on the line.
As to the Hollywood formula; you're wrong. It's simpler than that.
Introduction, conflict, resolution.
It's introduce protagonist, put 'em up a tree, throw things at them, and then get them down from the tree. Whether they fall or climb down is beside the point.
DEAR GOD! RAIMI IS FOLLOWING THE BASIC TENETS OF STORYTELLING!
Seriously, though. You're not going to see any chances taken on this franchise, Raimi or no. I'm not sure what kind of chances you're expecting them to take; your criticism is kind of vague.
Maybe you need to take some chances with it.
