True, and when James Cameron almost did Spider-Man, his choice was reportedly the black costume instead of the red and blue one. That would have been a mistake frome my point of vue, but still...

But I think EVERY comic costume can translate onto the big screen, frankly. The filmakers, producers and executive suits don't have what it takes to make that decision, as in X-Men. The movies are great, but I still loathe the costumes. I would have prefered yellow spandex...

No matter what you think of the Green Goblin I costume from the first movie (thought it sucked too), just imagine it with pointy boots, an oversized purse and a whole lot of purple! Works in the comics, doesn't translate to the big sceen.

Despite enjoying that joke in the first movie, I agree in part. The costumes can be made to not look so corny and still stay close to the comic look. For example, Spiderman's costume looks traditional but has texture that makes it look cool on the big screen. The Xmen's uniforms could have had this and possible a little darker appearance. Black leather certainly didn't look like it would be easy to fight in.
