Just got back from the movie and whilst there was a lot to feel good about there were a few things that left me feeling the film had suffered from the curse of 3. (See Return of the Jedi and X-Men Last Stand)

1) Waaaaaaayyy too much going on. With so many plot threads there was very little time for exposition and I feel that the film suffered because of it.

2) Why do the villans always have to have a secret heart of gold? Can't we just have someone who's nasty for the hell of it? Plus, Sandman SFX were very reminiscent of the Mummy a few years back. Not exactly cutting edge.

3) Is it Spider-Man 3 or the Peter and MJ show? I know the firts two films finished with Spidey swinging through Manhattan but it felt right and when the credits rolled at the end, following the last scene in the Jazz Club, it just didn't feel the same.

After the last two movies I left the cinema on a high and despite the film being good in parts, I just don't feel the same tonight and that makes me a bit sad.

went and saw the movie today. i discussed my feelings about it with my girlfriend and here are my gripes:

too many crowd cut away shots. i don't want to see random people. i dont care who they are. whoop-de-doo you know sam raimi, now get away from the camera.

news reporter introducing the final battle.....weak. why not set up with some psychological warfare between spidey and venom. harassing phone calls. show up on her doorstep. show us why mj hates the black costume.

kirsten dunst-if i wanted to watch a musical i would go watch something where somebody is actually good. no wonder the critics bashed her.

dance scene was awful. we had just gotten a dance scene with emo-parker. wtf.

jjj-was not as stongly written as he was in the first two. his screentime in 1 and 2 was priceless.

everything felt rushed at the end.

Here are the positives though

Sandman was great. his special effects alone were amazing. especially when he built himself up. awesome.

Venom-i went into the movie with an open mind. i was not let down. i thought his storyline worked out well. topher grace was good. i expected venom to have a little bit of a deeper voice though.

bruce cambell again was good in his bit part. one day he'll get a major role in a spidey film. one day.

all in all if i give the first movie a 8/10 and trhe second a 9/10 i would have to give this one a 7/10. i left feeling a little unfufilled. satisfied but still hungry. i wasnt let down as i was with x-men 3 or daredevil. and i felt ok about it but i wasn't ready to go and see it again.

i predict it will make about 300-320 million. 110 opening weekend.
