Just got back from the movie and whilst there was a lot to feel good about there were a few things that left me feeling the film had suffered from the curse of 3. (See Return of the Jedi and X-Men Last Stand)

1) Waaaaaaayyy too much going on. With so many plot threads there was very little time for exposition and I feel that the film suffered because of it.

2) Why do the villans always have to have a secret heart of gold? Can't we just have someone who's nasty for the hell of it? Plus, Sandman SFX were very reminiscent of the Mummy a few years back. Not exactly cutting edge.

3) Is it Spider-Man 3 or the Peter and MJ show? I know the firts two films finished with Spidey swinging through Manhattan but it felt right and when the credits rolled at the end, following the last scene in the Jazz Club, it just didn't feel the same.

After the last two movies I left the cinema on a high and despite the film being good in parts, I just don't feel the same tonight and that makes me a bit sad.

After seeing the movie and giving myself time to digest it, I really think this was my favorite of the three. It brought so much more to the table. Last night I was debating which of the second two was the best since I don't think any of the villains could match Molina as Ock. However, the interplay between Pete and Harry and also between Pete and Eddie was just amazing. I've been hearing a lot of hate on this site and that's fine, but I really enjoyed this film. It wrapped up everything from the other films so that it could be a complete trilogy but still left some open doors in case they do have another.

Dude. I loved Return of the Jedi. Completely agree with Xmen though. The second was awesome and the third I could have just not seen.

I can see that. I think the Harry story as well as MJ's story was done well but it crowded Venom and Sandman and made it feel rushed.

Well Venom certainly wasn't a good guy. Sandman isn't really a villain the comics so I'm glad they did that. I really liked his recent showing in Spiderman: Reign also. I think that if Pete fought a purely evil villain than we wouldn't have really seen how dark Pete was getting.

These movies, like the early comics, are all about Peter Parker. It's not like in Superman, where Clark Kent is just a disguise. I think the Pete/MJ thing was good. It just took a lot of screen time. I'm still glad they did it. However, I completely agree about the credits. They should have finished it like the first two.

I actually got a little more enthusiastic after sleeping on it.
