I'm more against the continuity wipe than the Mephisto thing. Memories, fine, but don't erase the existence of stories.

Doom has a time machine. Dormammu is uber. Loki, well I'm not sure. Mephisto has never had the ability to do this kind of thing.

To respond to the above poster, he's not the devil but I see the point. Personally, I don't care other than the fact that it was stupid. He didn't sacrifice anybody or put anyone in danger. He just wanted to save his frail old aunt, which was stupid.

Great review. I'm glad people are still upset enough to rant about this b/c I just think the whole idea is awful. Always felt it's insulting to the fans and the character as well as his history. It's "Magic." Ugh.

There's nothing wrong with making changes, but doing it so thoughtlessly is ill-conceived. What about the butterfly effect? Spider-man played a critical role in The Marvel Universe for years and altering his life radically would ripple to effect other heroes. I just can't get on board with this.

Aside from all this though was that the decision Peter made just felt out of character or at least wrong.
