If Joe Quesada can set things back to the way they were when he started reading the books in the early 1970s (with Peter being a swinging bachelor) because that's what he feels is best, than we can set things back to the way they were in the late 1980s and 1990s through 2007 when Peter and MJ were a married couple. Simple as that.

Extending this line of thinking, somebody who grew up in the 90s might want to give Spiderman some leather and a couple big guns to tote around. Granted, that never happened in the comics but you know what I mean. We could get the "dark" Spiderman back.
