I think you are confusing the fact that many people dropped the title with the fact that many people are unhappy with the deal with the devil.
Many of us (myself included) don't like the idea of a good guy making a deal with an embodiement of evil for any reason. But I don't think many people claimed that the deal itself was the dealbreaker (pardon the pun).

Jeez, dude, what's with the attitude? But yeah, the plot device of a Faustian bargain isn't new. It's just that only in Spider-Man does the hero of the story get off without having to face the consequences of their actions.
