In fairness, it is the MU, and plenty of the superheroes go berzerk, or appear to go berzerk (while replaced by imposters of one sort or other), pretty regularly. I mean, The Human Torch incinerated part of State U back in the 90s, and his only defense was "whooops," no less. Most people seemed to get over that relatively quickly. I'm sure everyone can think of countless other examples.
Thus, it isn't really too much more of a stretch to think that Ozgobby could repeatedly salvage his reputation, at least to some extent.
