| > I think that she is appealing because of all the character development she has gone through and the layers of personality that different writers have exposed. Unlike the other female members of the Spider-man cast, readers could relate to her and she felt "Real". She was insecure in many ways but had the confidence to express her complaints without crying and pining constantly. |
> Also, she also had a spunk and fire to her that made her interactions with Peter interesting and fun from the very beginning. It was explained that deep down they had a lot in common, and that they dealt with their problems similarly, even though they had very different personalities. Peter wasn't very interested in her at first, but grew closer to her over time due to this - - so the development of their relationship was also interesting and realistic. She wasn't the sweet, perfect designated girlfriend and for that reason she was able to have flaws and realistic traits.
> Unfortunately, she wasn't written well in the 80's and 90's.... the writers seemed to forget that she had a personality and life outside "Spider-man's wife". Her life appeared to revolve around worrying about him.
> I started reading Spider-man comics way after they were married, but I did research on her and read older comics. I do think that she was written very well by JMS, and that it is possible to make her a great characters while married to Peter. Writers just need to take the time to understand her and learn about her backstory and development.
Seriously she was just like a sexual prop. Especially in 90's dude Erik Larsen drew her in nothing but lingerie for goodness sake. Not that I'm complaining. lol But sheesh. At this point let the marriage die. I just don't care. But I want some continuity fixing. IN STORY confirmation that it all still happened minus the marriage and some in story explanation why Peter's acting all immature..though my theory about breaking up from a long time relationship might fit. And his power upgrade from THE OTHER. And maybe the marriage ruined MJ. I think she finally started acting like herself again with her new boyfriend. Ouch Peter. Ouch. You stifled MJ. Naughty Peter Parker. lol
