> How would you convincingly establish that MJ had turned 100 percent lesbian and was not in fact a bisexual woman who first fell in love with Peter and after their marriage was satanically divorced entered a lesbian relationship with another woman but who could just as well have entered a heterosexual one with some man? And with a bisexual MJ there would still be hope of her and Peter getting back at some point in the future.

> In alternate timelines and futures that are firmly grounded in a situation like the one we had in ASM pre-OMD(1), Peter and Mary Jane's marriage and relationship was very strong indeed. In the MC-2 Universe (Spider-Girl), Peter and MJ are a happy couple married for almost twenty years (AFAIK) now, while in the futures seen in ASM #500 and Spider-Man: Reign, Mary Jane was true to Peter until her death. So readers (especially if they like Peter and MJ as a couple) would naturally conclude that under normal conditions Mary Jane would continue to love Peter and that any break-up would be merely temporary. Also, if you worked in the "MJ-turns-gay" plot under the current status quo, the conclusion that her new-found lesbianism was caused by Mephisto could really not be avoided. People who think that Mephisto breaking up Peter and Mary Jane's marriage is Wrong and should be reversed will have no reason not to think the same thing about Mary Jane's new sexuality.

First off, the whole suggestion of MJ was not my idea, and I was responding to the thread suggesting this possibility. And I said that if MJ turn GAY, it would "firmly establish that Peter and MJ won't be getting back together" because Mary Jane will no longer be attracted to Males. This would mean that Peter and MJ will never get back together again.

I agree with you 100% about if MJ turned BI, it would still leave the possibility of Peter and MJ getting back together. Actually I prefer this option, as it would let us explore whole new stories and everything will come full circle if Peter and Mary Jane get back together again.

I really don’t like the idea of MJ turning BI/Gay due to Mephisto/The Devil manipulating her. I think that could unintentionally send out the wrong message, that would indicate that Homosexuality is ‘evil’ and ‘the work of the devil’ etc. To me that sort of thinking is absolutely ridiculous. I also believe that for Marvel Comics that would be a PR Corporate nightmare. If MJ does turns BI/Gay it should be solely from her own feelings/decisions, NOT due to Mephisto.

I think if Marvel goes this way, the new continuity will be (keep in mind I am a little confused on how the new status que already is, let alone adding on this hypothetical):

Peter+ MJ meet: Everything stays the same as we know it
MJ declines first marriage proposal
Peter + MJ move in together - Parker proposes.

BND Happens:
The stories we read all these years happened the way we read them only instead of being Married the happy couple was consider to be ‘Long-term partners’ and/or engaged

Somewhere along the way Peter and MJ is about to get married but it is indicated that Peter did something on the Wedding Day which led to the two of them going their separate ways

Current status of their relationship is frosty at best

Our Hypothetical Happens:
After having a relationship with that Actor-guy, MJ discovers she is either Gay or Bi-sexual.

This can go into how Peter handles this information (hey, this type of thing happens in real life) and stops fans etc. from expecting Peter + MJ getting together in the BND ‘reality’.
At least for a prolonged period of time
If MJ is BI, it still leaves open a back-up plan if writers want to put the two back together again without making things complicated.

How does that sound? Somewhat correct?
Please help me out here

Thanks for reading
