Not trying to troll; Really interested.

I have never read a story (other than Spider-verse) with him in it.
(So I missed out on his introduction and initial hype)/

But what with all the chatter about him being a good candidate for being the new MCU Spidey, and the idea that Secret Wars' main gain is to get him into the Marvel Universe, the character must have a huge appeal.

I'd like to know why... Is it his personality? Back story? Fresh perspective?

All of the above? It is a fresh take on Spidey but at his core is still a genuinely good kid whose heart is in the right place. I think he's actually a bit BETTER of a person than Peter (616) was starting out. Peter in early Lee/Ditko was someone who really could've gone on to either become Captain America or Magneto. He eventually did the right thing, but usually either accidentally or for the wrong reason.

In contrast, Miles is really trying to do the right thing but gets dealt a bad hand, particularly in regards to his uncle.

Bendis' USM is by far one of the best runs of comics out there and there really is no let down in quality except the past couple of issues have been so-so. But that's like 5 issues out of a 200+ run at this point.
