The Spider-gang aren't gonna talk about it? [sarcasm]"Oh great."[/sarcasm] The best the can muster is stooping to another Marvel namecopying exercise. The Order of the Web was bland enough

    Quote:
I don't like the Order of the Web. I liked Jessica and Julia when they weren't blandly female extensions of a male character, especially Julia who was 'my' Spider-Woman, but I had no problem with her being renamed Arachne and Jessica Drew retaking the name. Those two being out there and non related to Spidey worked for me. However now they're just two more generic female characters where writers have struggled to keep them unique. Which is nothing to do with two badass Marvel women.

    Quote:
Arana or whatever she's called now has always been a terrible character and now she's just one generic member of the Order. She doesn't have the pedigree of Jessica or Julia and Miles already does her schtick of a young Spidey. I never understood why she stayed a thing when Mattie at least had the Jonah / Marla connection.

    Quote:
Spider-Gwen is a surprisingly good character but I feel like Marvel have nothing to do with her. At least she has a character unlike Arana and modern day Julia.

    Quote:
Miles is here because he's the Spidey Marvel want us to embrace (sadly comics Miles is the only one I don't care about) and I don't remember if Silk is here as well but it wouldn't surprise me if she was.

    Quote:
That's already too many similar characters with too many similar things going on.

Pretty much agree on all counts above.

    Quote:
I'd set Julia away from Madame Web and her and Jessica away from Peter. I'd keep Miles as a part time side kick like the videogame because that rocks and gives Peter a kid without giving Peter a kid. I'd kill off Arana and Silk and I'd decide to stick with one consistent voice for Spider-Gwen.

Maybe:
-Relocate Jess to highest Q-Rating setting of California with a longterm secret destiny mission and Julia tags along to oversee.
-We still don't know why Owen didn't recreate 1610 but Reed & Co. could do that so Miles can go home. Or just restation him in another Earth.
-Depower Arana she could work as a supporting character or sidekick in any non-Spidey book.
-Nothing for Gwen or Silk come to mind.

      Quote:
Peter is epiphanically upset that can only reshape his character moving forward... forever... However, the whole motivation from Last Remains feels incomplete and the true staying power of his new 'tude feels uncertain. [sarcasm]Feels like a Tuesday.[/sarcasm]

    Quote:
You mean you don't believe that HIS RESHAPING CHARACTER THAT WILL FOREVER BE CHANGED AND WE CAN SEE IT BECAUSE HE HAS YET ANOTHER COSTUME THAT CAN BE DLC FOR A FUTURE GAME isn't permanent?

Heh.

    Quote:
As you say it's a Tuesday. Bison Day. I'd rather have great stories in a serialized format with consequences rather than event comics that are bland and generic and sigh inducing than FOREVER CHANGED or NEW DIRECTION or REBOOT any day.
(That said I DO think 616 Marvel needs a reboot because it's just too bloated after the last twenty years of nonsense)

And then there's the 5 page spotlight on America's favorite supporting character. No, not MJ who only got, like, 5 panels. It was [sarcasm]Carly Cooper[/sarcasm] who had that whole buncha somethin goin on

    Quote:
Eh I kind of like Carlie. She got too much hatred just because of being associated with Brand New Bad Idea all those years ago. But Slott wrote a character I like seeing and I'm interested in what's currently happening with her. I'm hoping she ain't dead or doesn't die because I'm bored with supporting characters dying to give Peter gravitas. How about when comics were ESCAPIST FUN before they had to go all Dark or big event all the time.

Don't mind the few issues she was written fun but have mostly been indifferent to her.

    Quote:
(I know I'm a hypocrite hoping Norman dies and saying here I don't want more death but it's because he really IS mined dry in that he annoys me showing up, and I think he's more villain than supporting cast member. In real life, a friend or relative can drift off but villains will keep coming back unless they repent, die or get locked up)

Hmm...
