Interesting, but not sure where this story breaks off from 616. Closest I can figure is when the webbing didn't work when he was trying to swing to the FF building. But why couldn't that have happened in 616? Also, Peter was upset when he learned his costume was alive in 616, and wanted it off. Did he just thinks differently here for some reason? And why didn't this happen with Eddie Brock in 616? I'll keep reading, but I hope everything is explained eventually.

It may not be an exact recreation of what "What IF..." was. From What if #88-98 there was not the same type of clear divergence much of the time.

Also, a afew of those What If one shots from the 2000s were more loose. Like Captain America being in the Civil War or If Daredevil were a samurai, or the Fantastic Four having been Soviets.

It might be more akin to Elseworlds, that is my guess, but I could be proven wrong as the series continues.
