I think, Superman did mention to himself that there were many red stars in that area, which would have contributed to his faster power loss.

Don't think that it was that cut and dried. Once he had superpowers, he kept them, till he was exposed to red sunlight.
I remember even a story, where Jor-El and Lara had powers on one of Krypton's moons while being out of the red sun.
