> I was discussing Superman actors with someone the other day and I got to wondering about the height and weight of the various actors who've portrayed him. Anyone got the stats on that? I think Reeve was 6'4" and uh...yeah that's all I really know. Also, does Superman have an official size and weight?

DC usually lists Superman as 6'3" and 235 lb. Which is ridiculous. They typically draw him looking around 7 feet tall and, at that height, if you know anything about bodybuilding, he'd be well over 350 lb.

Even AT 6'3", Superman's bodyweight would be a LOT more than 235 lb.(given how big he is usually drawn). The man's freaking huge.

Incidentally, DC lists John Henry Irons as 6'10" or 7' ... and they've always drawn Superman to be around JHI's height.

Not that applying logic to the Clark Kent/Superman identity is ever a good thing, but I think a 7' Clark Kent really wouldn't work. No one would ever overlook someone 7' tall, that's freak size. 6'3" is also very tall, but it's at least "human" tall, especially if Clark slouches. On the other hand, if I ever meet Superman and he is 6'3", I'd be taller than him, and I can't imagine looking down to Superman, so maybe he should be a bit taller than that. (Yes, I know Superman isn't real. \:\-P )

As for weight, I guess it depends on the artist, but you're right, he's usually drawn so big and bulky he's got to weigh more than 230. Of course, most artists draw everyone weird these days, so the ones that do actually still take anatomy classes can probably render a 230-ish lbs Superman. I think Chris Reeve was 225-230, and he makes for a good Superman, IMO.
