I don't see any real difference between any of the Pre-C DC heroes compared to Post Crisis except for Superman and the only real difference with him is that Pre-C Supes moved planets. Beyond that, he functioned at a similar level as modern Superman (yes, he was enormously inconsistant in that regard)."

The thing is this. While Superman sneezed out a solar system in the 60s, no writer would write him doing something like that in 1980. So one must consider how comics evolved during pre-c Superman's existance.

From what I recall of pre-C Superman, he was the epitome of inconsistancy. He could move a planet, yet struggled with characters who were never portrayed as being able to do anything close to this (such as Captain Marvel). I see nothing that puts him as any more formidable in battle than current Superman. He simply could do more extreme non-battle feats and was much more succeptable to kryptonite, magic, and red solar rays. The rest of DC seems to have remained pretty much the same powerwise, except for Wonder Woman becoming stronger and gaining flight.

I see no real reason to declare Pre-C Darkseid to be more powerful than current (and aren't they technically the same). I think that this notion is more of a perception possibly due to Pre-C Darkseid not having faced and lost to Pre-C Superman while current Darkseid has lost to current Superman and Doomsday.

But maybe I have missed something.

Captain Marvel did his own planet pushing, yet could be bothered with sneezing powder. I suppose, such inconsistency had to happen if the heroes got to powerful.

Well, pre-crisis/pre-ZH Darkseid took over 3 billion daxamites, everyone of them just as powerful as pre-crisis Superman.

The difference is, that he DID those crazy stunts in pre-crisis continuity. On the other hand, he also faced opponents (and had some peers in the greater DC-Multiverse), which operated on the same level as him. Mongul, Vartox, Kru-Bak(don't remember the correct spelling), the Phantom Zone crew, Black Adam etc..., which kinda balanced the whole thing.
