> I believe that when he does that he overloads himself and repeated sundips, like you said he should do, would cause damage to his cellular structure. He has shown to act like it's too much for him to handle and would perhaps be a risk that would be foolish to ignore. Even he should have a limit on how much solar energy his cells can store and I believe he has to use up all that extra energy before he explodes or something.
I think this was more the case during Byrnes era. Fighting Rampage (solar powered) he absorbed her solar stores into himself, the result seemed to be vastly improved speed at least(he saw lightning moving in slow motion) the down side was agony and the potential to explode.
The whole cellular structure/i cant handel it seems to be a mix up of full heart of the sun dipping (which iam not suggesting) and the problems superman all star is having, which has no relevance to mainstream dc, which is what i was really intrested in. Also superman prime was shown to be a possible future superman that seemed able to absorb limitless amounts of solar energy add that to superboy prime having a higher lvl already along with KC superman tolerating green k due to higher lvls. I dont know if supergirl is more powerfull any longer or not. I Remember daxamites being more poweerfull than supes at one point, dont know if thats changed.

Supergirl was revealed to not be more powerful, but just to not exercise the restraint that Clark developed as he grew up. (About the time of the Imperiex invasion, Mongul told Superman something like "You hold back. You always have. You have no idea how powerful you really are.")
As for Daxamites, I've been told that at one time (pre-Crisis timeline) Mon-El was said to be more powerful than Superboy, but it's possible that's because Lar Gand was slightly older, and so simply had more muscle.
Also, I think at one point someone (Power Girl or the Matrix Supergirl) called Daxamites "second rate supermen", possibly implying their power level was LOWER than his.
Personally, I like to think it was just because they'd only recently become solar charged, or something, and that both races have equal solar-charging potential, with power levels only varying depending on the individual's size and so forth, and possibly on the amount of solar energy that person's absorbed.
