Well, I guess they did have to come up with a somewhat convoluted plot to link together Hal Jordan, Batman, Supergirl, Lobo, the Legion and the Challengers. They were trying to come up a bunch of one-shot team-ups that all linked up to form one big story ... I think they found a pretty good balance.
