Quote:Concluding the 2-part BLACKEST NIGHT tale of Superboy-Prime! The Black Lanterns have forced Prime to face his deepest and darkest fears, but what - and who - are they? And how will Superboy-Prime strike back after this devastating attack?
I'm rather surprised this character is still around, I had thought the Legion of Three Worlds would draw a line under him as that's what we'd been led to believe after all, then when i saw the Ordway cover to this I'd thought this might be where they finally write him out. Rather appropriate in a way if Alex Luthor killed him. But considering DC are trying to reinsert the regular Clark/Superboy into continuity again I just can't work out the sense in keeping a leftover like Prime around anymore....

Quote:Black Lantern Solomon Grundy is out to destroy all monsters in this BLACKEST NIGHT tie-in! One target has already fallen. But who will be next? And what will it cost Man-Bat?
I'm actually looking forward to this as Kolins really delivered a surprisingly good series with Solomon Grundy, Reccomended.

Quote:The JLA can’t escape the BLACKEST NIGHT! Faced with the continuing threat of the Black Lanterns, Zatanna, Vixen and the rest of the team confront their pasts when fallen friends and foes return for blood!
Oh god... please not JLA Detroit again.
They did this story in Ostranders Martian Manhunter series.

Quote:While everyone wants something from Metropolis’ first Super Hero, Superman must fight his first Super-Villain – someone who wants everything – the Parasite! Meanwhile, Lex Luthor turns his attention toward The Man of Steel...
So i take it Parasite's first appearance in Firestorm #58 is now out the window?
Quote:ACTION COMICS #884
Quote:When Lois tries to run the story that will clear Flamebird and Nightwing once and for all, she finds herself blocked at every turn. With the world’s anti-Kryptonian sentiment escalating to a near-frenzy, not even being General Lane’s daughter will keep her safe!
Quote:Plus, to the shock and horror of Flamebird, the problems with Nightwing’s uncontrolled aging reach a critical juncture! and in part 6 of the new co-feature, Captain Atom squares off against his old adversary Major Force just as some troubling memories start to resurface – one word: Monarch!
Ah! Good, I'm glad they're not going to brush the Monarch stuff under the Carpet. Readers get shortchanged too often by writers who just ignore this sort of stuff...
I have enjoyed Nightwing & Flamebird so far but I am thinking the story is in real danger of grinding to a halt, there just doesn't seem to be enough plot to keep it all going and their original mission is getting lost in the post rather fast.
Quote:Part 2 of Man of Valor! Metropolis gets a chance to see the new Mon-El in action. But now the stakes are raised even higher and the action escalates as Mon finally goes mano-a-mano against the Parasite! This is a battle that’s been brewing since Mon’s emergence on Earth and now it explodes into the streets and skies of the city.
I haven't bothered with this for a couple of issues now, it's just too boring for words.... I find it odd that James Robinson has gone with such a shallow one-dimensional character as Mon-El here when his utter dislike & aversion to this type of character in his work is stamped through the middle of his worklike a stick of rock. Anyone who read Starman will know what i mean by that....
Quote:SUPERMAN: WORLD OF NEW KRYPTON #10
Quote:New Krypton is a planet so fresh, it’s experiencing countless things for the first time. Its first spring. Its first blooms. Its first birth of a child. And now its first homicide. When an important figure in Kandor is murdered, the suspect seems obvious to everyone but Superman. But can he make Zod or the Council believe this is more than an open-and-shut case? And can he uncover the real killer in time to save the life of the accused? It’s a dark mystery, but R.E.B.E.L.S. star Adam Strange arrives in time to help find answers...even though the truth may blow apart the civilized trappings of Kandorian society in the process.
Quote:This action-packed arc leads all the way to the series’ final issue, which itself sets the stage for huge happenings in the DC Universe next summer!
Like Action Comics this started well but is going nowhere fast. They seem to have run out of plot already and it's hard to see this book actually paying off and leading somewhere right now. I hope there's a jolt coming soon...

Quote:A blast from the past! The alien Vartox has come to Earth to claim a wife—and her name is Power Girl! PG may have wanted a boyfriend, but not quite like this! The fan-favorite team of Palmiotti, Gray and Conner craft another winner!
I look forward to this! But am terrified they will screw up with Vartox here.
I have a soft spot for the character as Superman #393 thereabouts was one of my earliest Superman comics and i though he was very interesting as a character. An legendary outer space superhero who even Superman was slightly in awe of, and was more powerful than he - how cool is that?! I would have preffered it if it was a Superman book that ressurected him therefore. >;p
