Christopher Reeve remains for me the best Superman actor to date. The others were good mostly but something was missing. Welling never clicked with me and neither did Routh.

Reeve was the best. Routh tried, but his acting was a bit wooden. He got a lot better when he reprised the role in the Crisis crossover, though. Welling teased playing Superman and always played Clark Kent. That alone makes Tom the WORST iteration of "Superman" to date because he only ever played Clark and never Superman.

Dean Cain - so, so. Gerard Christopher - better than Cain or Welling or Routh. But Christopher never got his due.

I personally liked Cain's version. But considering the fact the show focused more on Clark than Superman, it's no wonder a lot of fans believed he played a good Clark but not the best Superman.

Cavill? His interviews are great. He is engaging and I felt, prior to MOS, that he was perfect for the role. But, for me, his engaging, relaxed personality did not show in his Superman performances. Whether his fault or the directors, something was missing. Part of that was the Clark/Lois chemistry. It is smoldering with Tyler and Elizabeth but forced with Henry and Amy.

Oh definitely forced. Plus, Henry's Necksnapper acted like Batman in a red cape with a dash of the Punisher for taste. That is definitely NOT my Superman. Physically speaking, Henry had the best build out of all the Superman actors, though.

Just this year I watched Superman and Lois. I was unfamiliar with Tyler as I mostly didn't watch Supergirl. But wow. Tyler nails it. His off screen interviews are great. Relaxing and engaging as are Cavill's but, unlike Cavill, Tyler brings that vibe to his Superman performance. The guy is perfect in the role. When/if they do a within continuity Superman reboot Tyler is the type of actor they need to find for the role.

He's the BEST modern interpretation of Superman in modern times. He blows Henry's performance right out of the water everytime an episode airs. \:\)

One wonders how things might have turned out differently if Tyler had been cast as Supes in MOS.

Wouldn't have made a difference because then he'd be required to act the way as Cavill did in MOS thanks to Snyder's vision along with his production crew.

Now if they had originally stuck with a traditional Superman movie portrayal, then I wonder how Henry would have performed. Alas, we'll never know.

Think that Routh playing the KC Superman was very good, and would much preferred for him to have gotten the new Superman CW show, as Him as the new Superman on the new earth!

Maybe he showed be in that show on Hbo max!
